Data collection
Phase 1 of the research has been completed. 60 Early Career Teachers (ECTs) were recruited as participants working in a range of locations across metropolitan and country areas.
Roundtables
The 2009 Roundtables in Adelaide and Perth were very successful, with Industry Partner representatives providing brief updates on their work with early career teachers. The project Chief Investigators updated the Industry Partners on the project’s progress, including preliminary observations from the first round of interviews of the cohort of early career teachers in South Australia and Western Australia. Two PhD candidates associated with the project, Lisa Papatraianou and Chad Morrison, also introduced their proposals on whether Web 2.0-type interactive online technology can advance our knowledge regarding resilience theory; and an exploration of identity as a precondition for resilience, respectively.
Conferences
The research has been presented at national and international conferences.
Project direction
At this stage a Draft Profile of Conditions for Early Career Teacher Resilience has been developed. This profile will be refined this year as part of Phase 2.
