Roundtables

A ‘Roundtable’ approach

  • This research project will be organised and managed over the three and a half years through two ‘Roundtables’, one hosted by the University of South Australia in Adelaide, and the other by Murdoch University in Perth, WA. These Roundtables will meet four times per year, once per school term 2009-2011.
  • Intellectually, the Roundtable seeks to create and sustain ‘professional collaborative research enterprises between groups of educators across educational sites’ (Grundy, 1996, p.3).
  • The Roundtables will consist of researchers from UniSA, Murdoch and ECU universities and representatives comprising of some school principals and participant early career teachers, together with union and employer representatives from the state, independent and Catholic sectors.
  • The purpose of the Roundtables will be to:
    • Facilitate the work of the research project team;
    • Provide support for the development of ongoing dialogue;
    • Promote and provide a vehicle for the exchange of information and ideas among participating educational systems, schools, unions and universities;
    • Provide a forum for reporting and publicising the outcomes of the research; and
    • Provide for additional professional learning by organising, and promoting appropriate seminars and forums.
